Happy Birthday Bri!

Happy Birthday Bri, we love you! (sorry about the failed photos, but you get the message, paper is tasty, ok!).

So to follow up, Brian had a great birthday, well I think it was great since he got to spend time with us, but he might disagree given the time of year. So for documentation purposes (like that Bri?) this is how we celebrated:
On Monday Michael and I went to Home Depot and purchased 6 bags of decorative bark and flowers for the flower beds in the front yard. We dug up the old bark, weeds (there werent that many), and put in the new bark and flowers... then we didnt say anything. I thought this might be a good present for Bri, he said he didnt want anything for his birthday, but I knew there were other ways he would want to spend his weekend. So we kept that little secret to ourselves, I hoped that since it is dim when Bri leaves and dark when he gets home that the surprise would last until this weekend.

On Tuesday Brian noticed that we had replaced the bark, the cat was out of the bag, his big present was no longer a surprise.

On Wednesday Michael and I made Brian's traditional birthday dessert- mint chocolate sandwich cookies- I think his mom made them for Christmas, but they have transformed into a birthday tradition in our house.

On Thursday Michael and met Brian for a long lunch. We had some delicious chinese food (we both tried new things... this is shocking for us). Brian/I got a funny fortune about how something great will happen before your next birthday, we thought Bri should claim it since it was his birthday. After our lunch we got a yummy mint chocolate chip shake (at a different place), and then walked around you guessed it, Wally World (it was right there, and it was big),until Bri had to go back to work. That night he celebrated by working until 11 and getting home at 11:49.

On Friday he finally opened his remaining presents. We got him a box of chocolate covered cookies- he got me the same thing for christmas and valentines day, and let's just say we "shared" those boxes. The thing about these delicious cookies is that they disappeared for awhile, but Michael and I found them a few weeks ago, we grabbed them (they were on a random pallette at costco in a strange section), and hid them. We also got him a new pair of shorts, thrilling I know. Let's just say birthdays are pretty low key at our house.

On Saturday we went out to lunch, Brian's choice- he chose to go to hibachi place, he loves those type of places. It was yummy, mikey was great, and we rarely do it so it was a fun change of pace.

On Sunday, which hasnt happened, we are going to have Brian's favorite dinner- mashed potatoes (the good kind), asparagus (I insist on a veggie), and filet mignon (Brian's grandparents told us to buy these at costco back in the day, and yeah they are more expensive than normal meat, but they are pretty reasonable as long as you are willing to cook them yourself)- so yummy!

Happy Birthday Bri!
