Happy 8 Months!

Yesterday was Michael's 8 month birthday, I know can you even believe it? The little man is growing like a weed (well in actuality he has slowed down a bit, but you know what I mean). He hasnt started crawling yet, but I think it is coming so soon, it is starting to click that if he moves his arms forward he might be able to move forward. So far he moves backwards, flips, moves backwards in the other direction. Nothing is safe anymore, and not only are things not safe, but if you put the little guy down, he is rarely where you left him when you check on him 20 seconds later. So we are baby proofing over at our house.

In other news, this lovely little 8 month old sleeps through the night again! I am almost afraid to post that because I think I will jinx things, but it has been a few weeks and it has been lovely. He goes down for the night around 6:45pm (early I know), wakes up at 5am (yeah...), and gets up for the day around 7:15am. I tried pushing bedtime back, skipping the 5am feeding, feeding him more dinner, giving him a drink of water, etc, but those things didnt work, or only worked for 45 or so minutes- since I am not waking up for the day at 5am, I am going to stick with this feeding for the time being. Also, he doesnt take good naps, so anything I can do to increase the "nighttime" sleep, I'm going to do.

Naps have improved, it only took 8 months but they have. I decided that a change of scenery might make naps better so I set up the pack and play in my room... and guess what... it made them much better. Right now we alternate, one week of naps in his bed, one week in the pack and play, it is less convenient but he is napping (better) so we're going to run with it. Dont worry, his naps are still 20 minutes, but now there are two so that is a vast improvement (watch our second child sleep for hours at a time).

Michael loves to "read". He is fascinated by book, so we are going to encourage that, I mean afterall he will need to be pretty smart to go to BYU.

He loves real food, his favorite is still pears, but he is fan of peaches, peas, blueberries, and squash as well. We tried yogurt (I even bought the special "Yo-Baby" kind), but it just resulted in blueberry scented vomit, so we are going to give that a break. He loves string cheese (which seems strange to me), and hates bananas (especially when there are chunks).

His favorite toys are still my chapstick and phone, although he is no longer allowed to touch the phone since I opened it up and it was dripping with drool.

He loves his "fishies" and his glowworm (thanks grammy), the glowworm has been a lifesaver at 3am.

He still LOVES baths, and has finally transitioned from the "whale of a tub" to the big tub where he splashes like crazy.

Michael "talks" all the time, he makes the "ma", "ba", "da", "na", and "th" sounds, he especially likes to screech like a baby dinosaur.

He has recently discovered just how cute he is, and puts it to great use every time we are somewhere where he needs to be a little bit quiet... aka church, but those dimples are just so darn cute so I'll forgive him.

We love this little guy!
