Colors... Pinterest is Great

So the other day I was browsing Pinterest and I came across this. I was intrigued, it looked simple enough, I thought I had all the supplies, I love the idea of quiet books, and it was a "learning" toy, also I have book looking for things to do with my fabric scraps...I got to work, since Brian is still working like a crazy person I had time.

So I got started, I was a little afraid I wouldnt have all the supplies, but dont worry, minus the massive amount of fray check needed, I had everything... to make about 12 books, even thought I only wanted one.

My book is smaller than the pattern (only 5x7), and I used muslin instead of felt (because I kinda hate sewing on felt). If you make this and use felt you will need less fray check, otherwise, buy a new bottle.

The pattern has letters included, but one word of caution, whatever you do, do not use double sided tape to stick the pattern to the fabric, it will rip and you will be sad, or it will stick so well that you will not be able to separate them (as in the white page of my book). The pattern uses letters cut from a Cricut... but since I dont have one, I settled for a pair of scissors, yes it takes much longer, and no it doesnt look as good, but as mentioned I dont have a Cricut (sadly). Also, choose colors/shades that contrast for the letters, as you can see on the pink, white, green, purple, and yellow pages I didnt do that and the words are a little bit harder to read than I would have liked. Oh yeah, one other tidbit, the pattern doesnt mention sewing buttons on the pages, but I totally recommend it. I used the pattern more as a guide than anything and when I got done, I realized that I had buttons in every color, Michael's favorite part so far as been the buttons so I highly recommend it, if you have them laying around.

There are some serious issues with this book, the project took longer than I had anticipated (because each thing has to be sewn on, and the letters are cut out by hand), but all in all Mikey likes it, is interested enough to play with it, and it definitely shows him his colors, and isnt that what I set out to do?
