When we first brought Michael home CJ was not thrilled. She has warmed up a bit over the past 6 months, but still... I think she views Michael as the little monster that invaded her home and took over her family/pets. She doesnt like it when Michael cries. I dont know if it is just the sound that bothers her, or if she is "worried" about him. Whatever the reason, as soon as he cries she comes and finds me to let me know he is need of something. If i don't respond as quickly as she would like she goes out of her way to get me to comfort him. For example, on friday night Michael woke up in the middle of the night. I waited a minute or two hoping that he would go back to sleep... nope. Since it was Friday night Brian graciously stumbled out of bed to check on him... Michael continued to be upset (because he was mad that he had woken himself up). I stayed in our room, Brian had it under control, or so I thought. CJ disagreed, she stood on my back then pawed at my hair until I got up to check on him, apparently it wasnt enough that someone was checking him, it had to be me.
Michael loves to take naps on the bed in the guest room, I dont know why a 6 month old needs an entire queen bed to himself, but he does like to stretch out while he sleeps. Some days CJ joins him. She sleeps on his feet, just like she does to Brian. He likes it because someone is cuddling him (and he is a cuddly guy), and she likes it because she likes to nap with people (that are silent).
Within the past few months Michael's ability to grab things has drastically improved, as has his ability to scoot towards things he wants- one thing he really wants is CJ and her fluffy tail. CJ is smart enough to keep her distance from his little chubby hands, but on occasion she will let him touch her. I will have to try and get a photo some time, the look on his face when he finally gets her is priceless. she will usually sit next to me on the bed and let Michael pet her (while I hold him). We are practicing letting her smell his hand first and then petting her softly. She will put up with it for about a minute and then has to go wash the baby drool off.
I think she has finally recognized that he is here to stay and he is one of the family. The other day there were a couple of kids over (5 years old(ish)) and in an effort to hide from them she hid under Michael's feet while he was in his bouncer... this was the worst place to hide because he kept kicking her in the head and stomach, but I guess she figured it was safe enough.
We'll see how they get along when he starts crawling soon. My guess is not well.

Forget that post about "just one" - you are totally a mother to two. I want a video of these interactions.
