Pumpkin Village Preview

Since Brian has the week off of work (awesome I know!) we decided to do a fun family activity or two before I head off to Utah and leave these two crazy boys on their own. We decided that a trip to the Dallas Arboretum was a must, ok I decided since I liked it so much last time and they went along with it.

Today wasnt the best day to go to the Arboretum... because it was Columbus Day and the kids get off school it was packed! We had to take a bus in! It was still so fun but I think we may try going again later this week.

We tried to get some good photos of Michael, and we did get some photos but very few good ones. He is in the stage where he wants to be in everything and he is way way too busy to look at the camera. So it was a struggle to even get the ones we got. Here are a few that have been slightly edited, more (tons more) to come, but not today.

The Chilhuly exhibit is still going on right now, and it is so beautiful. It is basically colored glass in different shapes and arrangements throughout the area, mixed in with the plans it is beautiful.

A pokey blue sculpture.
The real reason that we went was for the pumpkin village. It was spectacular. According to the brochure there are more than 50,000 pumpkins in the display. There are houses made of pumpkins, piles of pumpkins everywhere, pumpkin garlands on the trees, and pumpkins lining the paths, really it is so fun and such a great place for kids. Michael was in even, he loves pumpkins or "punkies" as he calls them. He loved picking them up, climbing over them, and just pointing and saying "punkies". In addition to the piles and piles of regular orange pumpkins they also had some crazy varieties in the piles and on display throughout (with signs), I had no idea there we so many different pumpkins!
I was pretty impressed with our photo skills... or not. Climbing a giant pumpkin is way way more fun than looking at Daddy.
Such a cute guy even if he is a little less cooperative than I would like. He had so much fun, happy Autumn!

I love the busy pictures. I get a feeling of being there to share in Mikey's accomplishments. You are a good photographer.

also: Salt Lake City has a big orange chilhuly tower in the lobby of Abravanel Hall. It was commissioned for the 2002 Olympics. If you haven't seen it, you might be interested in seeing it when you are here sometime.
