Farewell Brown Couch

Today was the end of an era for us. It was a normal day, but there was one tiny thing, that was blog worthy- we sold our old couch. It wasnt a huge deal, but it was the one big furiture item (besides our bed) that we brought with us from our little Wymount home. It was time to sell it, the couch was great, but we wanted the space to put in a playroom for Michael.

Allow me a second to reminisce for a minute about the couch. Some couples go on trips, have a fancy dinner, or buy elaborate gifts to celebrate anniversaries, we celebrated our first anniversary by purchasing this couch. Our anniversary fell around the time that IKEA opened in Utah. We were thrilled, relatively cheap furniture designed for small spaces- perfect! A few days before our wedding we had gone to DI and purchased a lovely floral loveseat and chair, we covered them with slipcovers (that cost more than the furniture), but after a year something about the floral print wasnt cutting it- that and that the chair was sitting on cinder blocks, and the loveseat had a serious creaking/breaking issue, so we went to IKEA. We found a couch within our small budget that we could agree on and decided to purchase it. Since it was on sale we thought it was a limited time item, we thought we had to get it right away. We immediately talked to Brian's sweet grandparents who graciously let us borrow their truck to transport the couch and our old stuff to DI and headed from Draper to our apartment in Provo with our find.

We were thrilled with the couch- it could seat three, was brown instead of floral, and best of all it was new. We moved the couch with us to Texas, loaded it in the Uhaul, and brought it to our nice new home.

We listed it this afternoon, and it was gone within a few hours. Farewell brown couch, I hope the family that bought it loves it as much as we did.
