What do I need to pack to take to the hospital with me? Obviously I am not headed there (to have a baby) anytime soon, but I like to be prepared, and why not pack now. So what to pack? PJs are a given because as much as other people like wearing hospital gowns... that is absolutely not going to be happening for an extended period of time after the little guy arrives.
So besides some pjs, toothbrush, something to wear home, and something for the baby to wear home what do I need to pack?

camera, batteries, etc. Don't miss this moment for anything. Your own pillow. flip flops or slippers to walk on the hospital floor. A zipper jacket to wear. It's the easiest thing to wear while trying to nurse every minute. That way you don't have to fuss with a shirt!!! Kinda pack like a weekend get away bag. Just the basics. A journal, to document every little detail. Give this job to Brian, Jared loved keeping track of every little progression, nurse comment, fun things, feelings, etc. Those are a few of my tips!
binki(s)
NIPPLE CREAM/OINTMENT (I'm assuming you're nursing?)
Anything you want to photograph your or the baby in
Make up (you don't feel pretty after after having a baby)
Chapstick and lotion
Good food/snacks/treats
Camera
Good Book
Anything to help you sleep (it's often loud at night, so maybe ear plugs)
Carseat
...I'll keep thinking...
Slippers. I hate walking on hospital floors with bare feet and a robe. And something that will still help you feel like a woman. People will be taking pictures if you allow them and you don't want to hate them, even though everyone does because they didn't take sec to do that little thing that makes you feel like you are Yourself behind the PJ and breastmilk. haha
A word of caution that you're probably already aware of: bring pjs you're okay with getting rid of (or scrubbing to death) if you plan on wearing them soon after birth because you're likely to stain them. Also bring a comfortable nursing bra (a sleep type one).
I hardly took anything to the hospital with me and felt like I didn't miss anything except I wish I'd had a robe for walking the halls. Also I forgot lanolin, but they gave me some. Really, the hospital provides about everything you need.
It's best to not worry about makeup and looking cute after you've had a baby.. It's most important to spend time bonding with your little one, feeding him on demand, and taking it easy on yourself. Because of living away from family, I had very few visitors after both of my births, but I actually prefer it that way while I'm in the hospital.
p.s. I'm super proud of my crazy sweaty hair everywhere picture that was taken after I had my Madison. :)
