Watermelon: a Fateful Mistake
Today I decided to visit Sprouts. My groceries from this store are usually pretty light, some meat (if it is on sale) and lots of veggies. Today, I walked in to the store, picked up a basket and an ad and went shopping. I gathered bell peppers (that wont be cooked), ground pork, apricots, and some broccoli, and then I made a fateful mistake... I picked up a watermelon. I carried ALL of these items in my little basket to the check out. When I got there the bagger boy got a phone call from his manager, I didnt think much of it, I paid, got my groceries bagged and planned to walk out. Wrong. The bagger boy held on to my groceries and started walking... towards the door. I told him I was okay, I wouldnt go into labor (trust me I was on my way home from the OB, no labor here). He chuckled and told me his manager had instructed him to walk me to my car. I was a tiny bit mortified, but tried to make the best of it. I asked him if he had to do this often, to which he responded with "no this is only my second time". Great... I asked if he had helped an elderly person or a pregnant woman, to which he responded "I helped a crazy woman who bought 2 carts full of groceries". Oh wonderful... that is even worse. Dont worry I managed to get the groceries into the house (there were 4 bags total... not a lot), I think it was the watermelon that pushed me over the edge, maybe they thought since I looked like I had swallowed a melon whole carrying another one might not be a great idea.
