People food and Thumb Sucking...

I know that some people recommend not introducing solid foods until 6 months, but we did it anyway. I dont mean that Michael only eats solid foods, or that we forced him to eat them before he was ready, I just mean that slowly over the past month we have been introducing them. At first he hated them and he wasnt ready so I took at 2 week break (maybe he just didnt like the rice cereal), but in the past week or so he has LOVED solid foods. Over the past few months he has gotten more and more interested in what we are eating, and has started to want to eat. So far we have tried rice cereal (of course), applesauce, banana, and pears. He hates applesauce, maybe he would like the stuff from the store better, I have been making it in my handy baby food maker from Williams-Sonoma (so great!), he likes bananas okay, he likes rice cereal, and as of tonight (first introduction) he LOVES pears (also made in the baby food maker). It seems like solid foods are here to stay...

This was the first time we introduced food- I am pretty sure none of it actually made it to his tummy.

This was 2 days ago, he actually did eat the food, but he was too mesmerized by the camera to do it while I took a picture.

Speaking of things to stay... thumb sucking seems to be here to stay. I hate this habit and have been fighting it every step of the way, but i think I may to give it a rest since I am losing the battle. At first he couldnt get his thumb in his mouth... then that ended, and then he was just chewing on it... that is ending, now he is turning into a full fledged thumb sucker. I wish I could explain to him, from one thumb sucker to another, what this will do to his teeth and how hard of a habit this is to break, but sadly it just doesnt sink in for my 5 month old.

Ashley... he is ADORABLE!! He seriously gets cuter and cuter. I think it is so cute that he sucks his thumb. Also, did you get the Beaba Baby Cooker from WS? I've had my eye on it and have been wondering if it's worth it... thoughts?
