"We're not together!"

Last night I had an interesting experience. I went to dinner with some friends and then to see the lights at temple square (very few lights this year, not worth it at all). At dinner there were three couples, me, and another single girl. We had a pretty uneventful dinner, but then the checks came. This can always be a bit dicey- did they split the checks? who has cash? If they didnt split it what are you going to do? Well we avoided all of those issues, they gave each of the husbands the check, and then they gave me one, which is what I expected, but they didnt give Judy one. I looked at the bill and realized they had put us on the same one. Honestly, it wasnt that big of a deal, but I was annoyed by it for some reason. I dont know if I was annoyed because I hate doing the cash thing because one person usually gets screwed, or if I was annoyed the Brian wasnt there (not his fault at all), or if I was just feeling sick, whatever the reason I was annoyed, so when the waitress came back to pick up the checks, I said "we're not together, can you please split this?" I was much harsher than needed (I would guess), she did it, came back and everything was fine, but seriously I was not on a date with Judy (even though Judy is very nice and I do like her, I just dont want to date her, sorry Judy).

My sister taught me only a few months ago that you can give them both credit cards and write on the ticket how much you would like taken from each card. That way, you don't have to worry about cash!

So sorry I wasn't there to make it an awkward threesome. We could have had some great fun with that. But I'm sure you and Judy enjoyed your "date." I'll be there next time.

The feeling is mutual. Although I think I found more humor in the situation than you did.
