14 Months

Mr. Michael is 14 months… I forgot to blog about 13 months… we were getting ready for vacation, saying bye to Auntie Em, and then on vacation. So what is the little guy up to?

-still not walking, I say I am ready for him to walk… but maybe I am grateful he is taking it slow.

-cruising- while he isn’t walking independently yet he is cruising up a storm! He loves to push his cozy coupe, turn stools over and push them, and push his push party bus. Really nothing is safe, he is somewhat mobile and very tall, so every surface is fair game.

-he’s a climber! While the walking thing hasn’t taken off yet the climbing has, he can get on the couch, on chairs, on the bench in the toy room/office, and I bet with just a bit more effort on my bed. This climbing thing makes me…nervous to say the least, there may be stiches in our future!

-he loves outside or “ou ide!” as he calls it. From the minute he wakes up until he goes to sleep he is hopeful that we are going “ou ide!”. Thankfully the weather is cooling off so outside might be more of a reality.

-his appetite has waned dramatically. He used to be an awesome eater and now… not so much! His favorite foods include: strawberries, v8(not sure how that happened), milk, candy (not chocolate, only white chocolate), rice, brown rice, salmon (probably the winner), cooked carrots, and beans. He recently tried hot dogs and he is okay with them but not the biggest fan (yay!).

-he still loves to read and thinks he needs a book the minute we get in the sweet minivan. He has convinced (well how much can they convince at this age) his little friend that he also needs a book when he rides in our car so the two of them chant “book! book!” from the back and trade books as they get bored.

-Mr. Mike is talking up a storm. He says a ton of words now, and at his 12 month appointment he said…nothing. He either says or has words for: “ou ide!” (outside), “bath”, “night night”, “book”, “no”, “no way”, “no no”, “daddy”, “kitty”, “meow”, “moo”, “up”, “down”, “ducky”, “bubberry” (strawberry), “ma!” (milk), “wawawa”(water), “shoe”, “spoon”, “sand”, “light”, “car”, “go go go”, “poop”, “potty”(poppy), “nose”, “mawf” (mouth), “canny” (candy), “pudding”, “able” (apple), “hi”, “yello” (hello), “bye”, “buh bye”

-the other day while we were at the grocery store he pointed to some candy and said “ma! Canny!”… needless to say we may have purchased a kitkat bar for that sweet sentence…or fake sentence
-he has flown again… some people are awesome and love to travel with their little kids, I hate traveling to begin with and with a kid… not so much, but we all survived another flight!

-he loves to read books to himself or to you, adorable, really

-he understands what a phone does and picks mine up and pretends to talk on it. He holds it to his ear and says “yello”, “bye”.

-naps are still a bit of a disaster at our house, but we have accepted it, and not we are on the one nap per day schedule which seems to be a bit less of a battle, a bit less, not a lot less.
- he loves to try and cuddle stuffed animals, he holds them up and says “aww”.

-he understands what a hammer does… pounds…glass…walls…mommy

-his favorite toy (besides the cozy coupe) is still the kitchen stool, now he flips it and fills it like a basket while running behind it.

- he still loves baths and water, he goes into the bathroom several times a day and points at the tub while saying “bath!”.

-he adores his daddy, he asks for him all day. Poor guy is stuck with boring mommy.
- he doesn’t like his hands to be dirty

-dinnertime is a huge mess and generally requires mopping afterwards, but he is getting great at using a fork and spoon!

-he is still a huge fan of the sandbox, and now he understands more of what to do with the toys.
-he has gotten in a fight or two with the cat…they are pretty much tied now.

-he has to be watched all the time, we are at the point where silence is…bad. He is super crazy, and finds himself in strange places and situations on an hourly basis.

We love our sweet Michael and are so happy that he is part of our family!
