Mikey's Birthday Treats

We had some delicious treats/dinner for Michael's birthday. As is tradition in my family, the birthday boy/girl gets to choose both the meal and the treat on their day. Since Michael is too young to really voice his opinion we chose two of his favorites for him: spaghetti Bolognese and sugar cookies. He loved both of the them.

A video of the birthday cookies, please ignore how annoying I am in this video, I didnt realize how shrill my voice was until now.

We started the festivities off with dinner- spaghetti Bolognese.
Mikey loved it

No really, he was a great eater.
See delicious spaghetti
Opening wide for another yummy bite.
He needed a drink, look at how well he holds the cup! Isnt the balloon wreath darling? Auntie Em did a great job.

Yummy yummy.
He said "mmm"

He loved it!
What a happy guy
We wanted to get him to show us how old he was turning and he did a great job! He doesnt point with his pointer finger, not sure what to do about that but we'll keep him anyway.
Happy Birthday sweet Mikey! (dont you love the banner, we made that too, adorable).
Sweet Mike on his 1st bday!

He wanted to touch the banner, well to be fair he had no interest in touching it until Brian indicated that it was within his reach and then he REALLY wanted to touch it.
Playing with his presents. As my sister said, "he is going to have the best doctor's office around". Apparently the "bead rollercoaster" is a classic doctor's office toy, I just always wanted one and knew he would love it. He also loves his bus or music wagon as the label said. He loves the buttons and loves to dance when the songs start playing... we love it too... i guess.
Mikey waited patiently for us to be ready to eat cookies.

He loves bites of super soft sugar cookies so I thought, "what the heck let's make it for his birthday". These were a much bigger hit than cake, the cookie was just the right size and texture for him to grab and make a huge mess with, plus he is always trying to grab ours and he was thrilled to finally get his own.

He was much more interested in the treat and the fire this time around, good thing we practiced while his cousins were here.
This time he seemed to understand that he was getting a treat too.
He waited for confirmation that this really was his treat
He was fascinated by the fire... dont worry he didnt touch it.
What do I do with this?
He dug in quickly
Yummy cookie!
He didnt even offer to share with Daddy.
He took a giant bite right away.
see perfect size for making a mess and getting most of it into his mouth
too distracted to pose
messy face
Auntie Em joined us at our small party
Mikey chowed down
and then just shove the whole thing in
see very little made it to the tray
He understood how to devour the cookie

All done and in a cookie stupor
so tired and so full.
