That’s right, we’ve been married 6 years! Today promises to
be a wee bit less exciting than May 25th 6 years ago, but less
excitement is good (most of the time). We aren’t big anniversary celebrators,
just not our personalities, but as I was thinking about it, I decided I had to
document how we celebrated the last 6 years anniversaries because in 20 years I
might look back (with graying hair) and wonder what in the heck we did. We have
a tradition (not really a planned one) to buy one thing for our anniversary
that we can both use, so this is what we have done:
Year 1- brand NEW couch (thank goodness IKEA opened that
same weekend)
Year 2- bed frame and dressers (again, thank you IKEA)
Year 3- trip to Newport, Rhode Island, in fairness we were
already living in Queens so it was pretty close and inexpensive (we were poor),
but we did get to go to Walmart which was totally the highlight of the
experience, no really it was, Newport was great, but I missed the bright lights
and cheap things.
Year 4- grown up couch and chair and a kitten
Year 5- awesome camera so that we could take thousands
(literally) of photos of Michael
Year 6- BBQ grill (this one Brian picked out)
So that’s how we celebrate, cause we’re awesome, and a
romantic getaway apparently just isn’t our thing- though I don’t know that we
have ever thought of that.
So what to say about 6 years, well I will say that this year
was the most challenging, becoming parents tends to change a few things. While
there were some days when things were a bit more challenging, I think that this
was our best year yet- cause remember that sweet little Mikey, totally worth
the lack of sleep. So happy anniversary Bri, and if I don’t write it enough on
here, I love you, yes more than my chapstick, chewy spree, and even sleeping through the
night.
