Recently Mikey started doing a new fun thing... not napping. I anticipated this someday, but for some naive reason I thought "someday" would be after his first birthday, not after his first month birthday. When he does sleep during the day he insists on being held. This isnt the kinda thing where you put him down and let him work it out for a few minutes, he screams and will not console himself, and then the nap that you worked so hard for is out the window (we learned this the hard way) so right now my days are extremely unproductive, we sit on the bed, in the rocking chair, on the swing outside (because for some insane reason he likes outside despite the triple digit temperatures), we pace the house, sing made up songs about how great it would be if he took a nap (havent ventured down the taking a nap alone road yet). This fun little issue resolves itself around... 6:30pm, just around the time Daddy comes home and changes his clothes, leading him to believe (just a guess) that the stories about the little guy and his unwillingness to sleep or sleep alone to sound like the made up ramblings of a sleep deprived new mom. On a lighter note, he does sleep at night, granted we still eat every 90 minutes to 2 hours, but he can sleep alone (in his bed) and doesnt have too many issues going back to sleep- thank goodness for that!
