Thank you

Kids make life better. Since Brian moved to Texas I have spent a lot of time with my two favorite little people (not much with the third since he sleeps a lot), and I have to say that time with them has made all the difference. Kids are usually excited to see you, excited to tell you about their day, excited to just sit and “talk” with you, kids don’t care if you failed a test, forgot to read for class, or if you are just grumpy, they are still excited just to talk to you. Kids include you in activities even when you might not want to participate, they are happy to talk to you on the phone, they think little things are super exciting (pepp o mint lifesavers in this case), they want to read stories with you, show you their toys, and play funny games. I think kids take the edge off being by yourself. Kids remind you of what is important, Jake is constantly pointing out the temples, pictures of Jesus and scriptures, all things that I might brush off and not think about as I feel sorry for myself that I have to stay behind while Brian moved to Texas.  Kids pray for you, ask when you are coming back, and check to make sure that you are still there in the morning (sometimes they do this by crawling into your bed in the night without you knowing). In some ways I think at times kids know what you need more than adults, they seem to understand that everyone needs a friend, everyone needs someone to pray for them, and everyone needs to laugh at least once a day. So to those two (and sometimes 3) little kids that have made this week go so much faster than it otherwise would have- thank you.
