Grateful for What You Have...
Sometimes you are truly grateful for what you have, and the opportunities that you have been given, I know that we should be grateful for these things all the time, but in the craziness of life sometimes we forget. Why this post? The deadline for the MPH application is coming up, I know you are thinking, so what? arent you in the MPH and the answer is yes. But with the impending deadline there has been a flood of potential candidates, as each one walks in and looks scared, nervous, and uncertain, I become increasingly grateful that I am done with that phase, and even more grateful for the friends that I have made in the program. When I started the program I remember talking to Grandma Denny about how I was so nervous to be in class with just 12 other students, and I was unsure about if we would end up friends or not, she reassured me that things would be fine, I would make friends, and that she truly enjoyed her graduate cohort. I have to admit I was a little skeptical, but 4 months in I have to admit she was right, I have friends, we get along, and I cant imagine enjoying this experience nearly as much if they werent there. This experience has been amazing, not only have I made friends (which probably was my number one concern, since I tend to have a slightly abrasive personality), but I have continued and even increased my passion for public health, and I have had the opportunity to work with amazing professors and mentors. In the words of one my all time favorite professors, "Life is Good".

I'm very glad things have turned out so well. You passion shines through and shows that you have chosen the right field.
