Lessons learned from 007

I am not a fan of James Bond movies. I know this statement is pretty controversial, most of you are sitting there in stunned silence but let me explain. I like movies where the main female character is intelligent. I know you can argue that the “Bond chicks” are intelligent, but I think the idea that we refer to them collectively as the “Bond chicks” proves that they are known more for their… looks than their brains. The idea that one of the few things said about the new Bond chick was that she may have been the “hottest” Bond chick ever kinda proves my point. I know there have been a few exceptions; “M”, Money Penny, Vesper (is that her name?), and the main girl (see no idea what her name is) from Quantum of Solace. I know, now I am getting a reputation for being a “crazy feminist”, but really I think these movies are awful, let’s take last nights movie for example. If you haven’t seen it yet, then first off you have $20 more than I do, and you probably shouldn’t since it was… not great. Okay so at one point a girl shows up to send Bond back to England. At first she seems pretty smart and in control of the situation, then at some point Bond asks her to come into the bathroom to “help” him with something, the next scene shows them after the fact, and her saying that she is so angry with herself…really does this happen in real life? And why does this girl who appears to be somewhat intelligent suddenly melt like butter and fall all over herself? Wow this is just pathetic. I know I am a little biased, I am not a cuddly person. I really could do without hugs, so I am not a “melty” sort of person, but really? Come on, this is just unrealistic, do guys actually buy this? So lessons from James Bond? Being hot is all that matters, and if you are ever in a tight spot wear a revealing evening gown and then things will get oh so much better. Hm… no.

Ash, I'm glad to see that you vented about something I couldn't agree with you more. I HATE Bond movies. One it could be for the females and I really don't enjoy watching such things. But overall, I've never been a fan. So I think I'll keep the $20 this time. You've learned your lesson. Just say, Never again!
