My Little Cesspool of Infection

Mr. Michael is sick. Not just the kind of sick where you feel a little bit sick but you dont actually have a serious problem... the kind where you are sick... actually sick.

He started to get sick on Halloween. He was moody (see the above photos, see how he reacted to the glasses), and just a little bit more sensitive than usual, but I didnt think much of it, I could see a few teeth coming in, and that generally leads to rough days. Ha had been exposed to strep the week before but since the average incubation period is somewhere between 3 and 5 days I thought we were out of the woods. he went to bed and life was good.

On Thursday he woke up with a cough. He had a little cough on Wednesday but since he only coughed a handful of times the entire day we didnt think that much about it. But on Thursday... well it was an actual cough... and he sounded like he had a sore throat. Oh and he had a fever, a slight fever, but a fever none the less.

On Friday... well Friday was another story. I knew when he woke up that we were heading to see Dr. Khouri. He had those sick red rimmed eyes, a bad cough, what sounded like a horribly scratchy throat. and... oh yeah a fever of 101. We went and saw the pediatrician... it was a traumatizing for him, I think the worst part was getting undressed, anyway... we went, we got swabbed, and then we waited... and then we found out that he had strep... oh and RSV. Yeah... double the fun.

So now we are having fun with both. Luckily he is 15 months old so while RSV is unpleasant it isnt quite as bad as it could have been last year. And luckily he likes whatever flavor the pharmacist put in the antibiotic this time, so the real trouble is telling him no more medicine for a bit. But it is still sad to see him sick, he seems pretty miserable, what with the coughing, the constantly running noise, and the sore throat I think he has better weekends. This week we will be staying home and recovering, keeping all our germy fun to our germy selves. In the meantime, world have a great week, we'll see you in a bit.
