Cant say nothing different about myself
sometimes Im an angel and somtimes Im cruel
When it comes to love Im just another fool....
When the years have done irrepairable harm
I can see us walking slowly arm in arm
just like that couple on the corner do
girl, i will always be in love with you
when i look in your eyes
i still see that spark
until the shadows fall
until the room grows dark....
Brian and I have been married almost 2 years (2 years this coming sunday). I would have never guessed that we would get married the night that I met him. In case you arent already painfully aware of the story of how we met here it is...
First you need a little bit of background information... Brian and I are a little bit "intense... we both are pretty sure that we are right all of the time and we "enjoy" debating things. So with that said you can guess that our first encounter wasnt exactly smooth sailing...
Brian came over for dinner one sunday night... one of his friends was "going out with" one of my roommates so we thought having them over would be a good idea. Anyway so these boys came over and they seemed nice enough... then we sat down for dinner. We managed to start the "painful get to know you" small talk and started talking about our majors. When we got to mine Brian said "Art history? What are you going to do with that?" he claims it was an innocent question but I am not sure about that... anyway I changed my major and now I wonder the same thing about art history. So after we got over that Brian went on to tell me not to write my missionary... yes that is correct. If you have met Brian you know he likes a challenge... he knew one of the roommates had a missionary and was more than a little interested in seeing what would happen with that... we proceeded to talk about missionaries, mission stories (this one time in argentina), politics, school etc. By the time we got to dessert I wasnt Brian's biggest fan. I dont like it when people argue with me and Brian REALLY likes to be right... so we spent most of the time arguing while the other people tried to eat in peace. After dinner I got a welcomed phone call from my dad, I went in the other room to talk to on the phone and kept getting phone calls from a random (801) number. Since I was on the phone with my dad I obviously didnt answer and when I finished my phone call and went into the living room all my roommates were laughing, it turns out that Brian was the one calling.... he convinced my roommates to give him my number "to be funny", needless to say by this time I was really ready for him to leave... I complained about him the rest of the weekend and into the next week. I flew home for thanksgiving later that week and the day before thanksgiving while I was at the grocery store with LOTS of family members I got a phone call from the (801) area code again... turns out he didnt just want my number to be annoying....
So you get the gist of the story... it wasnt love at first sight but things turned out pretty well... it turns out Brian wasnt quite what I thought he was, and I turned out to be slightly nicer than he orignally thought. When I met Brian's older brother Jared and his wife Diana a few weeks later they explained that "Brian is a little intense", I think that might be the understatement of the year but I still love him and I needed someone that was willing to stand up to me and fight for their voice to be heard.
Anyway we have had a fantastic 2 years and are looking forward to the future and whatever it holds. Happy Anniversary Bri!
In honor of our anniversary here are some pictures of Brian's latest fish, he caught them at scofield last thursday
This is a little bit after we met, I had forgiven him for arguing with me by this point... Brian decided that he only wanted "practical" christmas gifts, he has obviously given that up

I realized the other day that we have been in our little Wymount home for two years (I moved in on May 16, 2008). Since we have moved in lots has changed in our little home. I thought the transformation was interesting, maybe you will too... if you dont sorry. Brian was wonderfully accomodating as I slowly decided that all of our stuff was junk. He went with me to pick out new stuff, paid for it and put it together. THANKS BRIAN!

Our old couch and chair... thank goodness for Ikea...
After Ikea...
Our new couch.... there is a funny story about this... When Ikea first opened in Utah I wanted to go get a couch... in case you werent aware I like Ikea, they have a big enough variety and lets face it they are cheap, when I am not a college student I might not love them but for the time being I do... anyway back to the story... I had a couch picked out, it was red (obviously), we went to Ikea and Brian did not like it. He thought it was way too hard... in reality it was but it was cute. We found this one next to it, it was much more comfortable. Anyway Brian thought they would run out of the couch and we would never get it, so we got it that night, turns out they still have the couch... anyway.

Ashley, that is hilarious. You have inspired me to take pictures of my house. I can honestly say that I haven't done much of that! But it is fun to see all the transformations. Nice job on the Ikea furniture. Hey, Happy Anniversary!
I have never heard that story about how you and Brian met, but I have to admit that I am not surprised. He was always one to debate. I do have to say I am thankful because my "intense" brothers taught me how to be tough and stick up for myself. But as you know underneath the fighter image, Brian has such a big heart and is so caring. I am so glad you two found each other. I think it was a match made in heaven. I love you guys!!
Happy anniversary to you two! Your apartment is so cute! I need to be more like you and make my apartment cuter. Ever since Miss Ellie arrived I haven't done much of that. You've inspired me!
I can't believe you've been married for two years. It's just amazing how fast time flies. This Saturday is our 3 year anniversary and I am still amazed at how fast those years past by...
