Math Mistakes and a Bad Mother

This morning Mikey and I went to Target to fill his prescription. I called the doctor before we went to make sure that she had called it in, made sure that we were almost out of pill so the pharmacy would fill it, packed up the baby and headed out. When we got there we were informed that they were out of the medicine...again... that it was on back order, and that they had no idea when and if it would ever be back. After getting this news I was a bit frustrated to say the least... this isnt the first time we have had this problem. Then the lovely pharmacist in training let me know that even if they did have the medicine, because we had been give 8 pills on the 1st of the month, and because Michael takes 1/4 pill per day, those pills should have lasted 34 days. Something seemed strange about that to me, 34 days? 34 divided by 4 is 8.5 not 8. As I walked away from the pharmacy I was panicked, I thought how could I have used the pills so quickly, have I harmed my son, damaged him in some way? About 45 seconds (I am ashamed to say it took that long) after we left the pharmacy a lightbulb went off (I half expected to actually see one). Michael takes 1/4 pill TWICE a day or 1/2 pill per day... which means 8 pills should last 16 days- not 34 (or 32 which I am sure is what he meant to say). Since I filled the prescription approximately 5 days before the last one ran out we should be about where we are now... in need of more medicine. I have to admit that the pharmacist in training's mistake made me feel like a bad mother... turns out someone just cant do math. How did the story end? we ended up calling the prescription into another place, we'll see if they're on back order too.

The pharmacist made a mistake. 4 times 8 is 32, not 34. And if Mike takes 1/2 a pill a day, then you are correct when you say that 32 pills should only last 16 days.

He is so cute. He looks like a mini-Brian.
