Teaching...
As most of you know I am a TA, it is a very exciting job (I actually like it), but I am not looking forward to this week. I am teaching two classes, which in theory sounds great but I am kinda nervous. Are they actually going to listen to me? What if I am boring, and who the heck cares about STDs? I am trying to spice up the lectures a bit, I am using a "learning activity" in one class, and media clips in another but I am still a bit nervous that no one is going to care. On Tuesday morning I am teaching about the determinants of health, and important topic, but one that makes me want to fall asleep just thinking about it, and on thursday night, I am teaching about STDs, and topic I find interesting (but I know no one else does). Any ideas for how to makes these fun? Entertaining? Or ways to just keep the class there for the whole block? Also if you guys have nothing better to do those days/nights, and live in this state (so none of you) you are welcome to attend, if you dont attend I wont be offended, if I didnt have to listen to myself talk for 1 hour one day, and 2 1/2 hours the next day I wouldnt, but I am not as lucky as you are.

I'm sure you'll do great! Media clips are always a good choice. And other people do like learning about STDs. I sure do! Just make sure to be sensitive.. I can give you an example of how one of my professors shared a couple of students' personal stories about STDs (i.e., they told her in confidence that they had something or another, etc.) and I think it was rather inappropriate as did my fellow classmates. Who do you TA for?
You're going to do just great, Ashley! Human Reproduction and Sexual Behavior was the one class in college where I attended EVERY lecture and discussion section. I agree with Stephanie when she says that other people like learning about STDs. I'll have to pull out my old college notebook and see what kinds of fun activities they had us do during discussion to make it interesting. So you're actually covering a lecture? And covering the gamut of STDs?
